I wrote this song a couple weeks into quarantine back in March when the pandemic shock and isolation was new and raw.
I'm not very religious, but even so I struggled to come up with a divine reasoning behind the horrifying events that have been taking place over the past six months. This is just me thinking through that out loud and realizing that nothing makes sense.
lyrics
[Verse 1]
I'm trying to be positive
But I can't find a silver lining
So many people are just dying
I ask what is the point of trying at all
[Verse 2]
I'm not religious but I keep asking God all the questions
That I can never seem to answer for myself and that is:
[Chorus]
Do You think that it will feel like this forever
Or can we save the world?
But he doesn't say a word.
[Verse 3]
I'm trying to stay positive
But I'm my own antagonist
So I call my friends up to see what they're doing
'Cause I'm in the mood to do some hoodrat shit
[Verse 4]
Please excuse us
We're just a bunch of blasphemous anarachists
We're not malicious–
Promise that we're harmless
But chaotic
[Chorus]
Do you think that we could be like this forever? (Yeah)
Never surrender? (Yeah)
Can we get away with murder?
Swear to God & hope to die–
You'd never lie to me baby.
[Bridge]
Don't mean to be sacrilegious
But this is more fun
I just wanna run away from all the mess I didn't make
Hand to my gun
Standing in the wake of history
Rise of anarchy in the age of blasphemy
Age of blasphemy
